Binarization and Thinning of Fingerprint Images by Pipelining
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two critical steps in fingerprint recognition are binarization and thinning of the image. The need for real time processing motivates us to select local adaptive thresholding approach for the binarization step. We introduce a new hardware for this purpose based on pipeline architecture. We propose a formula for selecting an optimal block size for the thresholding purpose. We also present in this paper a new pipeline structure for implementing the thinning algorithm.

متن کاملA Novel Fingerprint Recogntion Using Minutiae Features
Fingerprint Recognition has been widely used for personal authentication for several centuries. Most of these systems are based on minutiae features like ridge bifurcation and ridge ending. In this paper we present fingerprint recognition by using only ridge ending as the feature vector. A new model is proposed for both denoising and segmentation and the minutiae points are extracted directly f...
متن کاملAn Improved Method for Extraction of Fingerprint Features
Extracting features from fingerprints is a crucial step in fingerprint verification and recognition. Here, features are represented as minutiae, such as end points and bifurcation points. Many algorithms for this issue have been developed recently. This paper presents a fingerprint feature extraction method through which minutiae are extracted directly from original gray-level fingerprint image...
متن کاملMinutiae Extraction and Pruning Based Fingerprint Identification with Pattern Classification by Radial Basis Function
Minutiae feature extraction is one of the most popular techniques used for fingerprint identification with great degree of success. This paper focuses on the enhancement in the performance of an Automatic Fingerprint Identification System in terms of FMR (false matching ratio) and FNMR (false non matching ratio). To achieve good results and make the system effective it is important to extract t...
متن کاملAn Efficient Multi Fingerprint Verification System Using Minutiae Extraction Technique
In the recent decade, the rapid development of biometric technologies for security applications spurred increased interest in both academic research community and industrial sectors. Fingerprint images frequently have poor characteristics, because these traces are captured in crime places and are left on objects of different structure. The quality of the fingerprint images greatly affects the p...
